Escape rooms are really popular these days, and you can enjoy playing these fun challenge games with your family and friends. Today, I am sharing a Free Printable Escape Room Game called Mansion Mystery. This is a murder mystery escape room that is really easy to set up. This game has cipher codes, puzzles, and riddles, plus a fun storyline. You can play this game at your home or apartment, and you need only a color printer, A4 sheets, and a pair of scissors to set up this game. Using envelopes to enclose challenges is purely optional.
Age Group: 8 plus
This game is suitable for teens, tweens, and adults. It will be hard for younger kids to comprehend.
You can play this game at a birthday party, with your family and just on any day when you have visitors and they want to have some exciting fun.
This escape room game comprises of 12 challenges and puzzles. There are 3 tip cards that the players can use when they feel stuck. You can assign a time limit of 60 or 70 minutes for this game, depending on the age group and previous escape room playing experience of the players.
I am sharing detailed instructions to setup each challenge and I am also sharing the solution for all the challenges at the end of this page.
It is important that players go through all the challenges in the right sequence. If you don’t want the players to go to all the rooms, you can hand over the next challenge sheet when they correctly solve one challenge however, this game is way more fun if it utilizes the mentioned rooms, objects and spaces in the house. Players are not allowed to use their cellphones during the game play as the main objective of this activity is to spend some screen free fun time.
Supplies needed
- Printed Challenge Sheets
- A pair of scissors
- A mirror somewhere around the house
How to Play
The setup is simple. You can use envelopes or simply fold the printed sheets. Print all the challenge sheets and cut the challenge sheets that require it. Now hide each challenge in the places mentioned below. Give players 3 tip tickets to players before the game that they can redeem as per their need. You can give more tip tickets if players are younger. Players have to complete all the challenges before reaching the end, and the player or team who reaches the end first wins. If only one player or one team is playing, print just one set of all challenges, but in case of more than 1 player or team competing against each other, print duplicate sets of challenges.

Free Printable Hint Tickets for Escape Room
This is a set of printable hint tickets. You should just click on this thumbnail and save the larger printable sheet. Print the tickets on a heavy cardstock sheet. Cut each ticket around the edges. You can give the players 3 or more tickets at the beginning of the game. The players can redeem the tickets if they get stuck and need a hint related to solving the puzzle or the solution. How much you want to tell them and help them is up to you.
Free Printable Escape Room Game Challenge 1
Place the first challenge at something close to the players that is easy to locate, or hand it over to them. This puzzle is in Morse code so really easy to solve.
Escape Room Game Challenge 2 Printable
Place the second challenge in the laundry room. Just click on the thumbnail and save the larger printable sheet. This clock puzzle is really easy to solve.
Mansion Mystery Challenge 3 and 4
Put the third and fourth challenges under the sofa. You should drop a pair of scissors with the printed sheet so the players can cut and assemble the wheel. You shouldn’t fold the Caesar cipher wheel sheet.
This is how they should use the cipher wheel after cutting the smaller wheel. This puzzle can be a bit tricky for younger kids.

Place this sixth challenge inside a cupboard. This puzzle is written in Pigpen cipher.
Free Printable Challenge 7 for Mystery Mansion Escape Room
7th challenge should be placed behind a plant, but before placing it there, you should cut the paper in thin strips from the dashed lines. You can mix more random strips in these strips to make the challenge more challenging.

Click on this image on the left to get the printable sheet for Challenge 9. On the right is a picture to show how you should cut it before the game. Hide the 9th puzzle in the washroom. You can enclose it in an envelope as well.
Challenge 10 printable puzzle for Escape Room
10th challenge goes in the icebox of the refrigerator. This is a simple crossword puzzle.

Hide these two sheets of puzzle 11 under a chair. You can put the printed sheet in an envelope and stick that under the chair.
